Great position for someone who is retired- looking for minimal hours during the week! Day time hours.
A bus driver is responsible for driving a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) providing good customer service and a safe and comfortable journey throughout their experience.
_General accountabilities:_ Safety: * To ensure that speed limits are observed as posted.
To comply with the laws and company regulations regarding the use of mobile phones, smoking in company vehicles and the use of prohibited equipment (such as games consoles) whilst on duty.
To be responsible for the health, safety, security, welfare, environmental and fire safety arrangements for yourself, customers, and co-workers.
This must include attendance at safety meetings that pertain to bus safety and training as required.
To ensure all safety accidents_/_incidents are reported using the company's reporting procedure.
* To ensure a full understanding of emergency and evacuation plans to ensure the bus cab area is kept in a safe and tidy condition at all times.
To check the condition of the vehicle prior to commencing service by carrying out the safety walk round checks ensuring that any defect in the vehicle or equipment is reported as soon as possible to the right person to ensuring that the vehicle is clean and tidy before starting service Customer * To provide a high standard of customer service at all times To always behave in a friendly and professional way to customers and colleagues To recognize and assist with the additional needs of your passengers.
Business * To drive the Company's vehicles in a safe, legal and professional way.
Driving Licence To ensure that a valid driving license is held at all times and is available for inspection by a member on staff of the Company.
A driver must ensure that: * their license is in date and valid for the vehicle type * report all safety, security, driving and customer service incidents to the Executive Director as soon as possible * To report all incidents on the road, likely to affect bus services, to the Executive Director as soon as it is safe to do so.
Examples would be road closures, accidents, emergencies and highway repairs Learning & Self Development To attend training as required to fulfill the role of a professional bus driver.
To provide feedback about how services can be improved to their Executive Director _Language Skills:_ * Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.
* Ability to write simple correspondence and documentation on each resident.
* Ability to effectively present information on one-to-one and small group situations to customers, residents and other employees of the organization.
_Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications:_ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Must be free of active contagious disease\*s, such as tuberculosis or typhoid.
Must be reliable and have good attendance.
\* Show initiative.
Must have a cooperative, caring and positive disposition.
If position provides "direct contact" to residents as defined in the Vulnerable Adults Act, the employee must receive a clear criminal background result from Department of Human Services.
Must work a team member and maintain a positive demeanor.
Must be compassionate toward the elderly, working with tact and ethical awareness.
* Ability to interpret safety data sheets (SDS) on chemicals.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations.
* Good organization skills.
