Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, administrative assistant, or related field.
OR Combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) year of experience in a customer-focused position.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position.
Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
*Nature of Work* Under supervision, performs a variety of administrative support tasks requiring specialized knowledge of policies, procedures and laws applicable to the area of assignment.
Provides customer service to internal and external customers, answers questions, answers multi-line phone system, and provides clerical assistance with electronic filings.
Work is performed independently with attention to detail and periodic review for accuracy and conformance to prescribed standards.
*Examples of Work* * Maintains records and files.
* Serves as initial point of contact for customers and provides strong customer service both in person and on the phone and directs them to appropriate services.
Recommends solutions for customer concerns and de-escalates situations.
* Provides general administrative support to the department or area of assignment.
* Interprets and enters data into systems and links documents in databases.
* Attends team meetings, contributes to agendas, and takes notes when required.
* Compiles data and assists in maintaining accurate up-to-date data management systems.
* Provides trouble-shooting assistance on computers, software applications, office equipment.
* Publishes and updates information to reception desk manual.
* Sorts and distributes mail.
* Provides clerical assistance with electronic filings.
* Assists with other support needs throughout the department.
* Performs related work as required.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required* * Thorough knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment * Considerable knowledge of policies, regulations, statutes, procedures, and practices pertaining to the area of specialization * Some knowledge of community resources * Skill in the use of computers and technology including Microsoft office products and databases * Skill in the use of basic business math * Skill in proofreading and editing complex legal forms, documents and other correspondence * Ability to perform complex administrative tasks and make independent decisions * Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information * Ability to enter data quickly and accurately, with attention to detail * Ability to organize and prioritize daily work tasks while experiencing multiple interruptions * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others * Ability to follow written and verbal instructions * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing * Ability to adapt to changes in tasks and responsibilities * Ability to work independently as well as within a team * Ability to multitask and respond appropriately to competing priorities and deadlines * Ability to solve problems, recommend solutions, and de-escalate situations *Persons with disabilities:* the above is a general listing of job duties.
