Responsibilities
Ophthalmology is a fast pace high volume surgical practice.
Ophthalmic surgeries are performed at the Gonda 7 outpatient center.
The APP will work with surgeons from Cataract, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplastic, and Pediatrics subspecialties and will provide a history and physical exam using The American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) physical status classification system.
The APP will not be providing post-op care.
Presence of an APP will maintain efficiency of the ophthalmology surgical practice.
Advanced practice providers will receive initial training in the perioperative exam clinic caring for all preoperative patients.
There will be opportunites for job sharing across both departments as the need arises.
Previous experience in caring for surgical/ICU patients preferred.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as a ACNP or ANP.
Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Registration with the U.
S.
Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required.
This position will require additional advanced certification (BLS).
